Purpose drives the Passion

If a man had an option of not getting out of bed, he wouldn’t. Ever!

People spend whole life, innovating like Mr. Steve Jobs or climbing mountains like Mr. Khoo Swee Chiow, skating like Mr. Tony Hawke or gardening like Mr. Roberto Burle Marx or playing guitar like Jimi Hendrix. How could they stick to a single thing for their whole life? Why cannot we follow a single passion for few years!

Very few people have made a remarkable impact in the history of mankind. Those are the people who do what they love, passionately. More importantly, they have their reasons for loving it. Reasons give purpose to the actions. And purpose drives the passion.

We often experience that our mind loses focus if we do the same activity for hours. Man gets bored easily even while doing what he likes to do if there is no purpose connected to it. We need a reason to love doing something.

Father earns to provide his family a good living. We work harder to repay a loan in order to be eligible to borrow another loan!

If we do not find a purpose to live, we stay unsatisfied and do not have any sense of achievement. We must start from where we are right now. Having a desire “to be the best at the task on hand” can be the beginning of a purpose of life. And then eventually we can carve out a path to lead our life towards greatness. Satisfaction of giving best gives us the push. The discipline to the commitment of doing the best we can, to reach at world class level, takes us at the position where we can achieve the unthinkable.

We decide our definition of success.

Getting to the best physical shape and peaceful state of mind can be the starting point. Progressively we can refine our priorities and figure out what we want out of life. How we want to see ourselves when we reach at the final stage of lives. To begin with, we can plan to imagine ourselves with "some" achievements for current year and then sticking to the practices which convert those imaginations into reality.

Remember that unimaginable success is achieved with perseverance and determination. Each success is just a milestone passing by. There is more to go for after each milestone. Discipline to do what is important, Determination to maintain the discipline and dedication to support the determination are the corroborative structures which underpin the set goals.

So let us desire to do outstanding and be extraordinary. Let us settle only with our personal best each time. Let us accomplish what we desire.

Let us play our part with dignity.

Let us spread love, joy and peace and contribute our share to goodness.

  2. Dream what you want to dream;
    Go where you want to go;
    Be what you want to be,
    Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

  15. i feel the under lying fact is that sucessf people don't do anything to make them happy. They are happy already and that drives the passion in a positive way. Common man does a job to get the money which he thinks will make him happy. Even in an artistic profession you see the ones who are happy flourish more. That's why I feel being in the moment and happy and content mind makes every action from you take you in a different and upward direction. And how to make your mind empty and be in the present is only through meditation.

    1. Unless we are happy with our efforts, we won't ever be satisfied.
      And we can achieve contentment only when we know that we gave our best. So the whole purpose should be purpose of improvement. Rest will come.
